Houdini 6 continues where its predecessor left off, and adds solid 60 Elo points to this formidable engine, once again making Houdini the strongest chess program currently available on the market. The programmers were allowed to hand in new, improved program versions for the final which began on Monday, November 20th, 2017.

The finalists are Houdini and Komodo which play 100 games against each other. Here, each program plays the same opening positions twice, once with white, once with black. The prestige of this event is even higher because all participating programs run on identical hardware and because after a number of qualifiers the two strongest programs meet in a so-called "superfinal".
